The Wizard and I (Wicked)- Lindsay Mendez
I love her so much, she makes a perfect Elpheba.
What Makes You Beautful (One Direction)- cast of Anything Goes
The most adorable and happiest thing. Joel Grey is a flawless person. and bonus Brandon Rubendall in the shower.
Pretty Funny (Pasek and Paul)- Shoshana Bean
I really love the Krysta Rodriguez version of this, but it feels like a totally different song coming from someone older, and I like it. It’s also nice to see Shoshana Bean go for the simple, raw emotion over all the vocal tricks and riffing sometimes.
How Glory Goes (Floyd Collins)- Rory O’Malley
appropriate because 1) Floyd Collins is always appropriate, 2) so is Rory O’Malley’s face 3) that note at 2:26 4) the END 5) his recent tragic death in broadway hunger games; killed with paper cuts from a cripple is basically the same as death by sand cave.
Perfect (Pasek and Paul)- Vanessa Ray
I only know her from the Spelling Bee tour and that she was the Crissy replacement when Hair did the London switcheroo, but I bet she made a fantastic Olive. I really love all the songs from Edges and this is such a good version of this, girl commits. (I also always feel like this could be a long lost Next To Normal Natalie song). Tell me what to do. I will be perfect for you.
A Little Bit- Drew Gasparini
In honor of Crazy… Just Like Me coming to off-broadway. I love Drew Gasparini’s writing, I think he’s one of the best up and comers in terms of combining the humor and pop thing with a message and with heart. and he has such a great voice.. also I just really want to hear Andy Mientus sing this song.
“Andrew (Keenan-Bolger)’s Rosie Cruise Blog” …aka the best video you never knew you needed.
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to see Gavin Creel perform High School Musical? …go to 9:40 and you will know. and it is brilliant. Also, at 8:36, watch him play with little children and a princess wand while singing Rainbow Connection. and then watch your ovaries break. congrats on being perfect Gavin Creel.
Bonus Seusical, and Shoshana Bean singing Part of Your world.
My Simple Request (Joey Contreras)- Blake Daniel
He is so adorable singing this. and this song is cute and clever and funny and oddly sweet.
I have an extra PETER AND THE STARCATCHER playbill! So I’m having a giveaway!
Reblog or like this post for a chance to win it!
Winner will be drawn on Tuesday, April 10!
You Were Meant For Me (Jewel)- Christy Altomare
(skip to about :45 to skip the intro)
This is the perfect song for her, and she absolutely steals my heart.
Meet the Newsies: Race (Ryan Breslin)
I’m kind of extremely crushing on Ryan Breslin. He is crazy talented, and also super adorable and has a totally sick body… and he’s actually a really good rapper. (how is he not related to Alex Wyse… they are twins). Congrats on opening night Newsies! and congrats on putting an entire generations childhood on stage, I really hope you get an open run.
Unspoken Heart- Gavin Creel
Horrendous video quality… and I’m still sobbing.
This pretty much sums up everything that is great about Gavin Creel’s music. It’s simple, and honest, and emotional, and beautiful and so, so sincere. The things his voice does from 3:50-4:00 is the perfect example of not doing vocal tricks just for the sake of it, literally that one riff/thing can, and does, break my heart to pieces.
cause all we are are frozen and ever more will be- i wish you would have chosen me
Call Your Girlfriend (Robyn)- Wes Taylor, Lauren Molina, Nick Cearley
I really enjoy how much Wes Taylor enjoys being naked. However, I also just love their voices. the break on reason around :20, the let her down easy at :57, and that all of their harmonies are so pretty.
I’m so happy I get to see Wes’ snarky/sassy facial expressions and crazazy jaw activity on my TV every week.
God Save The People (Godspell)- Gavin Creel ft. Uzo Aduba
To quote Jesse McCartney, Gavin Creel has a beautiful soul.
(apparently he workshopped Godspell as Jesus… of course he did)
Through The Mountain (Floyd Collins)- Audra McDonald and Will Swenson
Love is the way they look at each other.
